Prologis Develops 10,000 Square Meter Logistics Facility in Krefeld

Prologis, Inc., the global leader in logistics real estate, has signed a lease agreement for a logistics facility in Krefeld.

A French company specializing in reverse logistics will use the building to supply its customers in the German market. The logistics center in Krefeld is set to cover a total of some 11,800 square meters, divided into an approximately 10,000 square meter building that will include office space and an 1,800 square meter outdoor storage area.

Construction is scheduled to begin in September 2016, with completion planned for the first quarter of 2017. Currently, the Prologis park in Krefeld comprises two logistics facilities with a combined total area of 28,000 square meters of storage space. With the new facility, the logistics park will be fully developed.

The company is an existing Prologis customer and already uses a combined 11,000 square meter space in the Evry Prologis Park, located to the south of Paris. “Our many years of partnership are a testament to the fact that in Prologis we have the ideal partner at our side who understands and fulfills our needs,” said the customer’s CEO. “For us, it is very important that we are in a position to take over a sustainable, top-quality building on schedule by spring of 2017, as this is our planned date for entering the German market.”

Special focus will be given to achieving the gold standard of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) for the facility which, among other measures, will include the installation of LED lighting throughout the facility.
Prologis is set to revitalize the area, which was previously used by an industrial company. “We are delighted to now develop a facility in a central logistics hub in Germany for our customer and thus be able to expand our partnership with them,” said Philipp Feige, director, market officer, Prologis Northern Germany. “Brownfield site revitalization projects like this one in Krefeld give us an opportunity to offer our customers sites in sought-after locations while also giving such spaces a purpose again – particularly in regions where space is scarce.”

In recent years, Krefeld has developed into a popular logistics hub, thanks to its proximity to the metropolitan region of Düsseldorf and its airport; connections to Europe’s biggest inland port in Duisburg; and its location near the borders of the Netherlands and Belgium.

CBRE served as broker in the completion of this agreement. ABOUT PROLOGIS Prologis, Inc. is the global leader in logistics real estate with a focus on high-barrier, high-growth markets.
