RHA demands action on road repairs
The Road Haulage Association has called on the government to do more to repair the UK’s crumbling road network.
“Currently, many roads are full of cracks waiting to turn into dangerous potholes that can cause collisions,” said RHA chief executive, Richard Burnett. “The Government and local authorities must do more to bring the network up to standard.”
Over £1 millions of taxpayer’s money is wasted on pothole-related repairs, according to the AA, and the RHA is not surprised by this. “Local roads where hauliers make their last-mile deliveries are often in an even worse state and the damage to HGVs,” said Burnett.
“More potholes means more breakdowns, more roadworks and more delays. And delays to a ‘just in time’ economy are disastrous for business.”
