Ryder to acquire The Scully Companies
Ryder System has reached an agreement to acquire the full service lease, contract maintenance, commercial rental and dedicated contract carriage businesses of The Scully Companies. Subject to customary closing conditions, the acquisition is expected to be finalised in late-January. Under the agreement, Ryder will acquire Scully’s fleet management business consisting of approximately 1,800 full service lease units and 300 rental vehicles. Ryder will also acquire approximately 200 contract customers primarily served from Scully’s six service facilities in Fontana, Sacramento, City of Industry, Montebello and Hayward in California, and in Phoenix, Arizona. Ryder will also acquire Scully’s dedicated contract carriage business, including customers served from 25 locations throughout the western US. Fontana, California-based Scully has been in business for 29 years. According to Ryder chairman & CEO Greg Swienton, the acquisition is a key milestone as it significantly expands Ryder’s current presence in Fleet Management Solutions in key Western US states, and increases the company’s customer base in the retail vertical for Dedicated Contract Carriage services.
