Siemens opens robotised module factory
Siemens has opened a completely automated battery module factory in Trondheim, Norway with a robotised and digitised production line featuring eight robotic stations with a capacity of up to 300 MWh per year to cater to the worldwide demand for reliable battery solutions.
The factory aims to see 55 battery modules per shift assembled every day for the marine and offshore market. Currently, one battery consists of nine battery modules and each module consists of 28 battery cells.
Siemens expects “this market to grow significantly in the future,” and sees that there is global interest in maritime battery systems. “We also see interest in such solutions outside Norway. The new battery factory will therefore also serve an international market,” said Siemens head of offshore solutions, Bjørn Einar Brath.
