Siemens targets real-time locating systems

Siemens has acquired Agilion which supplies real-time locating systems for use in logistics, production and maintenance.

Agilion is based at Chemnitz in Germany and specialises in RTLS in the ultra wide band frequency spectrum which allows precise localisation within a range of a few centimetres, tracking of a large number of different assets, and easy commissioning.

“RTLS is an essential key technology and a new step on the road towards flexible automation in production, for instance by providing dynamic self-organise production concepts in the assembly of large-scale products. Real-time locating also enables the safe, efficient use of collaborative mobile robots,” said Herbert Wegmann, head of the industrial communication and identification at Siemens.
