Stena increases North Sea ro-ro capacity

Stena Line is increasing capacity on its Rotterdam-Killingholme ro-ro service from January with the introduction of two new ships, the MV Misida and MV Misana.

Earlier this year it also decided to increase capacity on its Rotterdam-Harwich service. Stena will consequently increase its total capacity from Rotterdam (Europoort) by some 20 per cent.

Trade director Annika Hult, said: “We are currently trading at very high utilisation on both routes. We further see a good development in freight volumes arriving to Europoort by train. We believe that the combination of rail and Ro-ro transport will only increase in the future and our vision is that Europoort will develop into a key rail freight connection point to and from the UK.”
