Strengthened cooperation of IATA and ICAO

New agreement on dangerous goods handling

On the occasion of a gathering of ICAO state representatives and Raymond Benjamin, ICAO’s Secretary General, the IATA Director General and CEO, Giovanni Bisignani, emphasized the significance of a partnership between the International Air Transport Association and the International Civil Aviation Organization. Their goal is to ensure that air transport continues to improve safety, environmental performance and achieves financial sustainability.

Therefore the two organisations signed a commercial agreement. They will create two web-based products to support the safe carriage of dangerous goods: iShip, particularly targeting the shipping community, integrates dangerous goods shipping tools with IATA’s Dangerous Goods Regulations content. iShip will be available in the first half of 2010.

DGOnline on the other hand, will display online the latest information from leading dangerous goods regulatory and industry publications, including variations and updates, in multiple languages. It will be available before the end of this year.
