TNT first express integrator with fully integrated TAPA-validated global network

In what is an industry first, TNT has achieved the highest validation ever to be awarded to a company globally for trucks operating on its Asia Road Network in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

Level One is the highest validation that the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) awards in its Trucking Security (TSR) category, demanding 100% compliance from participating companies and their suppliers in meeting stringent security measures.

This validation is of particular benefit to customers from the hi-tech, automotive / industrial and healthcare industries, as well as those who require day-definite secure transit for high-value and time-sensitive commodities.

TNT pioneered the Asia Road Network five years ago, and last month announced a further €4.5 million investment in its Asia Road Network, bringing total investments to date to more than €12.5 million.

TNT’s Asia Road Network currently serves seven countries and 127 cities in Southeast Asia and China.

In Asia, TNT already has TAPA FSR certified integrated regional road and air hubs in Singapore and Bangkok, as well as its regional gateways and depots. This means that TNT is now the first globally to operate a complete door-to-door TAPA-certified logistics network.

According to TAPA research, more than 62% of losses incurred on road freight transport happens en-route, or while the truck is away from the secure depots.  The TSR specifies the minimum acceptable security standards for assets travelling throughout the supply chain and the methods to be used in maintaining those standards.

TNT has taken the TAPA requirements a stage further by deploying CCTV cameras on its fleet, which can be monitored remotely to observe the loading and unloading of the trailer and to ensure quality controls at all stages of the movement of the customer’s goods. The cameras are also used to detect if the trailer is being followed and the control room is able to alert the police immediately of an eminent attack on the vehicle.

The Truck TSR validation further underpins TNT’s ISO 28000 certification, which was awarded in 2009. The ISO 28000 audit covered TNT’s integrated operational road and air solutions, which included the Asia Road Network, cross border customs security and clearance processes. The audit also covered TNT’s tailor-made security solutions for its customers, which encompassed a risk-based assessment of the customers business within the supply chain.
