Traxon: A pair of aces

Two award winning IT companies work hand in hand to serve the freight forwarders. Traxon Europe, in 2007 and 2008, was the first successful winner of the Information Technology for the Air Cargo Industry Award, presented by Air Cargo Week. This was followed, in 2009, by Redberry Software which in turn won this prestigious award.  Now these two leading companies, both dedicated to providing IT solutions to the industry, are cooperating  to offer their service to small and medium sized forwarders in the UK.

A good example of this in action is Sebenza Europe Shipping and Forwarding (PTY) Ltd. Thanks to working with the two companies the UK branch office of the South African based forwarding group has been able to comply, at very short notice, with the Republic’s new  Customs regulations

Redberry specializes in the multi-modal freight forwarder market and now operates in ten countries. The company’s software has the ability to exchange MAWB, HAWB and consolidation lists (FHL messages for Customs) as well as Track and Trace data of Traxon’s registered airlines without extra module surcharges. Traxon Europe offers access to over  90 carriers for Track and Trace, of which 55 are covered by the “zero cost” scheme. Traxon Europe with a worldwide network of offices and joint ventures, provides a wide range of electronic communications systems and products for airlines, forwarders and Customs services worldwide.

Following the lead set by the USA, Canada and India, China and South Africa now require advanced electronic reporting for security reasons. In the EU countries, advanced reporting of Export data for Customs, has been in force since July 2009. The next phase to cover Imports, will  become mandatory as from January 2011.  Many other countries will be adopting similar measures in the near future. Meanwhile, IATA e-freight is working towards  achieving  a  paperless Air Cargo Industry.

With the Air Cargo Industry suffering so much in this economic downturn, It is encouraging to find  innovative solutions from companies, such as Traxon Europe and Redberry Software, which are helping companies cut costs and perform better in readiness for more prosperous times.

Company portrait
TRAXON Europe was founded in 1991 with headquarters in Frankfurt am Main. It is the world’s leading provider of innovative value-added services to the airfreight industry in the field of e-communications and automation. The global network of TRAXON Europe links more than 9,000 forwarding offices with ca. 90 international airlines. This comprises about 95 percent of IATA-registered global airfreight capacity. TRAXON Europe works in close cooperation with its customers to find innovative solutions and anticipate their needs. Part of the company’s philosophy is to provide success-oriented companies with value-added services, enabling them to boost their efficiency. TRAXON customers can then in turn offer improved and more cost-efficient services to their own clients. The company’s turnover has steadily risen in recent years to around 10 million Eeuros in 2008. About 148 million messages were transmitted that same year.
