Tyrol expands night driving ban on the A12 motorway to EEV trucks
From November 1 only Euro 6-trucks will be excluded from the night driving ban on the motorway Inntal-Autobahn (A12)
As of October 31, 2013 the exemption for EEV vehicles in Tyrol’s night driving ban on the motorway A 12 will expire. In spite of intensive efforts and negotiations, among others of the transport associations in the task-force of Alpine transit, as well as in the Economic Chamber Tyrol, Ingrid Felipe, Landesrätin and vice governor of Tyrol, refused to renew the exemption for EEV vehicles, as the task force of international road transport companies in Austria (AISÖ) informs in a press release.
The reason therefore was the persistent bad air quality in the Tyrolean valley and the fact that Euro 6 vehicles are already available in the market. Thus from November 1, 2013 only Euro 6-trucks will be legally exempted from the night driving ban on the A 12 motorway.
