UK specialist Sterac investing into mega trailers

Sterac Transport & Logistik GmbH is investing a total of around EUR 500,000 to expand its fleet by adding five mega trailers, five standard trailers and two tractors. The megatrailers allow transporting particularly large-volume goods and take significantly more small deliveries per tour than standard trailers.

“The utilisation of our daily groupage freight capacity to the UK was already very high in the past and continues to rise. To cope with the growing volumes optimally, we are now deploying five mega-trailers with very high load capacity,” says Philipp Sanftleben, Sterac-Manager for the UK.

The trailers with a volume of 100 m³ and a clear loading height of 3 meters allow Sterac to offer a broader product portfolio. The company now carries also large machines and components.

As a consequence of the ‘Brexit’, the company expects to handle an increasing number of small deliveries to the island, which can be handled more efficiently with the megatrailers. These take 70 to 80 small deliveries on average, while a standard trailer can take only around 60 small deliveries.

Sterac Transport & Logistik GmbH, headquartered in Braak bei Hamburg is responsible for transport, warehousing and cargo handling for domestic and international customers, including container and overseas transport. The company has 116 employees, and a fleet of 110 trailers and twelve tractors of the Euro V-class.
