Warehouse pay rises 2pc

The average salary for warehouse workers has increased two per cent from last year according to a Blue Arrow sector trend report.

This equated to a £330 rise in annual pay to £17,056 in July 2017.

Blue Arrow found that industry average pay in transport and logistics has gone down by 1.9 per cent, but the salary for each reported role has increased –with order pickers rising by 0.3 per cent and fork lift drivers by 3.7 per cent. Class II drivers salary increased by 1.8 per cent, lifting from £23,138 in July 2016 to £23,557 in July 2017. Job demand is also stable in the sector.

Blue Arrow’s Toni Richards said: “There’s been a few unexpected declining trends in this month’s sector report, but overall things are looking stable. As we move closer to autumn, we begin moving into the peak months for many businesses and we’re hoping to see salaries increase as clients compete for candidates during their busiest time of the year.”
