Woodhead takes ‘leader of the year’ award

Hermes CEO Carole Woodhead has been crowned “leader of the year” at the Women In Logistics UK awards following sales growth of 15 per cent a year for each of the past five years.

Lieutenant Charlotte Edwards of the Royal Logistic Corps took the prize for Rising Star after leading successful missions in Sierra Leone and Poland. Edwards was one of two military corps winners, with the Royal Logistics Corp winning Company of the Year too.

Royal Mail’s HR director Helen Diksa won the trophy for diversity champion as a result of female recruitment at Royal Mail rising from 19 per cent to 29 per cent in a single year.

Women in Logistics vice-chair Clare Bottle, said:  “Whether it’s delivering millions of parcels during the Christmas Peak or leading a mission to tackle Ebola in Sierra Leone, logistics careers offer an amazing array of challenges and these awards highlight the opportunities for women to excel. Every individual on our shortlist is an inspiring role model and Women in Logistics UK is proud to be able to showcase their remarkable achievements.”
