FLTA reveals first safety champion

Nick Moore, stock and yard manager of Brett landscaping and Building Products, is the winner of the first Fork Lift Truck Association Safety Champion Award.

The award sponsored by Briggs, recognises those who have shown exceptional commitment to positive change at their site, making it safer for all who work on, or in close proximity to, fork lift trucks.

Moore developed an improved traffic management system, and secured £137,000 in capital expenditures to implement this, and other safety projects.

This resulted in an additional 3,450 sq m of useable stock yard, wider roadways, enclosed pedestrian walkways, improved road markings, elimination of vehicle queuing on roads, and more.

FLTA chief executive Peter Harvey said: “Nick Moore is a very worthy winner of the inaugural Safety Champion Award. Such dedication to improving safety, and the extent of his achievements is truly admirable, and deserves recognition.

“Of course, we must also give honourable mention to our runners up. Mark Jackson of Babcock Marine and Chris Burley of Walkers Transport came second and third, respectively. Both have gone the extra mile, demonstrating a real commitment to improving site safety.”
