Sainsbury’s picks Fraikin to manage southern home delivery fleet

Sainsbury’s has chosen Fraikin to manage its home delivery fleet in southern England for two years, extending a pre-existing agreement and placing responsibility for 78 per cent of Sainsbury’s online home delivery fleet in Fraikin’s hands.

Simon Skeet, head of retail and logistics operations for Sainsbury’s Online, said: “Market leading customer service lies at the heart of our online shopping experience, and that means well-presented and punctual deliveries and value for money for our customers. Fraikin has consistently helped us to meet this requirement.”

Fraikin will manage 1,000 vehicles operating from 120 stores. It will provide servicing via a combination of mobile technicians and Fraikin’s own branch network. Maintenance will be carried out every 12 weeks.

It will also replace any vehicle immediately, if cannot be put back on the road within three hours, no matter what the circumstances.

A dedicated Fraikin team based in Coventry provides the supermarket with fleet support for its specialised temperature controlled vehicles.

The agreement extends Fraikin’s working relationship with Sainsbury’s, from a contract signed in 2011 to manage 220 vehicles.
