10pc wage increase of Tesco workers
Tesco store and customer fulfilment centre warehouse workers are to receive at 10.45 per cent hourly rate increase to £9.30 by October 2020.
The pay increase will occur in two stages. It will increase by 6.9 per cent on 1 September 2019 from £8.42 to £9.00 and then increase again by 3.3 per cent to £9.30 on 4 October 2020.
The pay deal was developed with Usdaw and elected colleague representatives. Tesco has also agreed to replace the Colleague Bonus Plan permanently with this higher basic hourly rate, providing more certainty for hourly-paid store and warehouse workers.
“We are delighted we have been able to offer our colleagues a pay increase of over 10 per cent, despite the significant economic challenges and uncertain times many retailers are currently facing,” said Tesco UK chief executive Jason Tarry. “Together with our other colleague benefits, it makes our total reward package more competitive than ever before.”
