£135m Spanish buy for DS Smith

DS Smith, the corrugated packaging supplier, is to acquire the corrugated activities of Spanish producer Grupo Lantero, in deal worth some £135m (€190m).

Grupo Lantero operates seven sites across Spain. The deal, which includes several operations in which DS Smith currently has a minority holding, takes its share of the Spanish market to about ten per cent.

Miles Roberts, chief executive of DS Smith, said: “It is a further important step in our strategy to leverage our scale and strengthen our geographic footprint and we look forward to working with Grupo Lantero stakeholders and contributing to the overall growth of DS Smith.”
