Huge logistics site planned for Coryton
A huge logistics park is planned right next to London Gateway at the mouth of the Thames.
The 403-acre Coryton refinery site, which is now up for sale, is currently being cleared and around 100 acres is available immediately.
CBRE has been appointed to market the site, now renamed Thames Enterprise Park. Paul Farrow, executive director of the National Industrial Agency Team, said: “Thames Enterprise Park is a very significant strategic site, capable of drawing in a wide range of employment generating uses of all sizes that will make use of the exceptional infrastructure and proximity to key logistics sites. For the investment and development sector this is a rare opportunity to create a large scale, master-planned industrial scheme.”
Demolition began in November 2014 and clearance of refinery process units is due to be completed in 2016, with other areas to follow. Cleared land can be released for redevelopment in stages.
Chris Brookhouse, chief executive of Thames Enterprise Park, said: “We have cleared the first phase of the land for redevelopment and are now in a position to proceed with sale of the land which offers a highly attractive location for a variety of other industrial uses.”
The site is just to the east of London Gateway, the 560 acres logistics park being developed by DP World. It has multi-modal transport infrastructure in the form of direct access to the A13, extensive rail sidings and Thames water frontage, offering river access from existing jetties and opportunities for a wide range of different uses. The site is currently owned by a joint venture of Vopak, Greenergy and Shell.
