24plus and Online Systemlogistik consider fusion

The two general cargo cooperatives 24plus logistics network and Online Systemlogistik are planning their next move since they started a strategic cooperation in November 2014. Both system alliances were commissioned by their respective bodies to elaborate a merger plan until the end of 2016.

According to both cooperatives, the official order to examine a possible merger was the right move in their relation. The resulting fusion would create a pan-European network of almost 150 partners and annual volume of about 10 million general cargo shipments or 2.8 million tonnes.

“The result is open, but we are all motivated by the desire to intensify our cooperation,” says Peter Baumann, CEO 24plus. “We realised very considerable potential, that goes beyond the existing general cargo activities of the two groups,” adds Sandra Bugiel, Managing Director Online Systemlogistik. “In the strategic cooperation we were able to observe that there are limits to the effects, as long as both groups remain in their existing structures. Our goal is to design a concept for a sustainable future-oriented group, which we are now examining in detail.”

The merger plan will include company law, organisational and technical issues. A major content of the merger plan is to create a long-term, future-oriented platform that all partners can identify with. Moreover, this platform shall cover an even wider business range for all partners.
