Hermes to create more than 100 jobs at Bolton depot

Dedicated parcel company, Hermes UK, is opening a new distribution depot in Westhoughton, Bolton. More than 100 full time jobs will be created at the substantial 77,800ft2 warehouse, which will be operational later this month.

The new facility will be able to handle over 220,000 parcels each day, three times as many as its previous site in the area, with the capability to operate 24/7 if required. It forms part of the ongoing investment programme by Hermes UK to expand its capacity to meet the huge demand created by people shopping at home during the pandemic and the continuing growth in the sector.

To support Hermes’ ESG commitments, the new depot comes complete with EV charging as Hermes now has 30% electric vehicle ParcelShop fleet, smart lighting and is built to BREEAM certified specifications.

“We are all very excited here at Bolton to be moving into our new home,” said Phil Howard, Depot General Manager, Hermes UK.
