AirBridgeCargo wins Schiphol’s Cargo Award

AirBridgeCargo is the winner of the Cargo category in this year’s Schiphol Aviation Awards, in recognition of its exceptional performance.

In making the award in front of an audience of 130 at the General Aviation Terminal,  Schiphol East, the airport’s Executive Vice President and COO, Ad Rutten, said that AirBridgeCargo had proven to be a solid growth factor in the airport’s cargo business in the past year. The airline’s growth to over 50,000 tonnes in 2011 represented the best performance of any carrier serving Schiphol.

In opening up new routes both to Russia and the USA in 2011,  Air Bridge had also further enhanced Schiphol’s destination network, added Rutten.

He continued: “Air Bridge Cargo has been a strong investor in new equipment, and has consistently scheduled this new equipment on its Schiphol flights, in recognition of the need to achieve maximum noise reduction. Their recent introduction of the very low noise B747-8F proves that this policy is continuing. This makes them the deserved winner of the 2011 Cargo Award.”

Each year, Schiphol presents its aviation awards to clients and business partners who have distinguished themselves through innovative business management or positive performance. Emphasis is placed on those who contribute to the quality and diversity of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol’s global network of airlines and destinations.

This year’s Schiphol Aviation Awards comprise six categories. In addition to AirBridgeCargo’s award, other winners are Vueling (Airline of the Year Europe Award); KLM (Airline of the Year North & South America Award);  China Southern Airlines (Airline of the Year Asia Award);  Corendon Dutch Airlines (Airline of the Year Africa & Middle East Award); and Servisair (Passenger Ground Handling Award). Winners of the regional categories were selected for their punctuality, growth, innovation and marketing effort.
