Aldi’s 1.3 million sq ft DC plans look set to go ahead
Supermarket giant Aldi’s plans for a 1.3 million sq ft distribution centre at Interlink South in Bardon, Leicestershire look set to be given the go ahead by Hinckley & Bosworth Council after a neighbouring consulting council confirmed it had no objections.
North West Leicestershire Council’s planning department was consulted on the plans and confirmed in a letter to Hinckley & Bosworth Council that it had no objections to the scheme going forward.
Aldi had secured the 72-acre site subject to planning from Curtis Land. Plans were submitted last month for a facility comprising 1,301,658 sq ft of space, that included approximately 50,000 sq ft of offices on two storeys as well as a 65,000 sq ft mezzanine.

The property will have a clear internal eaves height of 30m. The barrel vault roof will support a PV solar array and the whole building will conform to EPC A.
Within the Design & Access statement it was stated that the new NDC is expected to become “the fulcrum of Aldi’s logistics infrastructure and will be critical to support Aldi’s national store network growth”.
The site is close to Junction 22 of the M1.
