Alfred Schneckenreither sen. passed away at the age of 92 years

The Austrian transport and forwarding industry mourns a grand seigneur: Alfred Schneckenreither sen., founder of the Upper Austrian group, died on the 9th of December at the age of 92 years.

Alfred Schneckenreither sen. was a true transporter. He founded his transport comapny as early as in 1960, to which a forwaridng agency was added ten years later. “Hard work, a dose of risk-taking and a partner who pulls together with me,” was the motto of the just as amiable as professional entrepreneur.

He had the reputation of a very correct businessman, who always had an open ear for his employees. To Alfred Schneckenreither sen. being a role model had always been more important than nice words.

It was legendary, too, how, with entrepreneurial vision, he always set out in branch niches that others had not even discovered yet. Thus, the entrepreneurial family has invested a lot of time, energy and capital in its group with currently 13 branches and companies in Germany and abroad, generating around EUR 160 million in sales with around 500 employees in 2018.

Only when it came to premises such as “quality – adherence to deadlines – harm reduction”, the senior never knew a compromise. Awake and with a clear mind, he pursued the development of his life’s work until the very end. Living values that are passed on today by his sons Alfred and Mag. Wolfgang Schneckenreither, who took over the management some time ago.

In various interest groups and specialist committees of the goods transport industry (Economic Chamber Upper Austria) Alfred Schneckenreither sen. emphasised his courageous commitment, as evidenced by a number of respectable awards: Among other things, he was awarded the Silver Medal of Honor of the State of Upper Austria, the ring of honor of the city Ansfelden, and the Economic Medal of the Economic Chamber of Upper Austria.
