Allport and Keswick form forwarding JV in Romania

Allport Cargo Services and Keswick Enterprises have joined forces to create a new freight forwarding joint venture in Romania, named ACS Romania.

Keswick already has substantial interests in Romania through its Tibbett Logistics subsidiary. ACS Romania is based in Bucharest and is headed by Alex Avram.

Charles McGurin, Allport’s chief executive officer, said: “ACS has operated to and from Romania for many years and the move to formalise an official presence there forms part of a strategic growth directive. The partnership with Keswick Enterprises means that we are in a position to further improve the level of service offered in the region and demonstrates our commitment to our customers.”

And Keswick chairman John Harvey said: “We are undertaking an increasing volume of intra-European haulage on behalf of our clients. Six years ago, we established a domestic intermodal operation with our own rail wagons and a private rail freight terminal to move containers from Constanta to Bucharest. This has now been extended into a wider European intermodal operation, and reinforces our interest in working with Allport’s international network. ACS Romania will enhance both companies’ capabilities and commitment to the Romanian market.“
