South Korean investor Vestas Investment Management has sold Amazon’s fulfilment centre in Bardon, Leicestershire, to Savills Investment Management for £161m – more than £40m more than it acquired the building in 2016 from developer Mountpark. Vestas was advised by BNP Paribas Real Estate Investment Management.
It is the latest mega warehouse investment deal of its kind as the logistics investment market in the UK continues to prove popular. Earlier this year, Aviva Investors paid £139m for the 783,000ft2 Sainsbury’s distribution unit in Hams Hall while Tritax Big Box has paid £90 million in an off-market deal for a wine warehouse in Bristol.
According to Savills, investment volumes for distribution warehouses reached £4.7 billion in 2020, a 25% increase on 2019 figures and £500m higher than the previous watermark of £4.2 billion set in 2014.
