Amazon to open first Irish distribution centre

Amazon is opening its first distribution centre in Ireland.

It has taken a 630,000ft2 warehouse at Mountpark’s 1.06 million ft2 Baldonnell Business Park in Dublin to provide faster deliveries for customers across Ireland seven days a week, including one-day delivery.

The facility is due to open in Spring 2022. In addition the internet retailer opening a second delivery station, at Park Development’s Northwest Logistics Park in Ballycoolin, serving customers in Dublin and the surrounding areas.

The 83,500ft2 building is expected to be fully operational this autumn.

Stefano Perego, vice president of Amazon’s fulfilment centre operations in Europe, said: “We are delighted to be opening our first fulfilment centre in Dublin, enabling us to provide faster delivery times for customers across Ireland.

“We are excited to be creating 500 new permanent roles, which offer competitive wages, excellent benefits and a modern, safe and engaging work environment for our employees.”

Letting agents at Baldonnell are CBRE and Cushman & Wakefield while Ballycoolin is being marketed by Savills and CBRE.
