Amazon to open Hull distribution depot

Internet retail giant Amazon has been linked to a planning application for an 88,000 sq ft warehouse in Hull.

The application has been submitted by developer Wykeland Group for a 15.8 acre plot at its Melton West Business Park.

In the planning and access statement it was said the proposal aims to develop the site as a ’last mile’ distribution facility within the wider business park.

The application is for the erection of a modular warehouse with ancillary office accommodation for a temporary period of 1 year, provision of associated car parking, van storage, cycle parking, pedestrian access arrangements, formation of 2 no. vehicular accesses from Brickyard Lane, landscaping, other minor works, and infrastructure works.

The development will complete part 1 of a phased scheme to later provide a permanent building/structure for the occupier.

Amazon has started recruitment for a delivery station based in Hull. On its website it is looking for an area manager to become “a founding member of a team whose purpose is to solve complex challenges creating unprecedented customer experiences on a daily basis” in Hull.
