APM reduces investments into liner shipping business

A.P. Moller-Maersk’s investments into the expansion of container shipping activities are falling behind

The Danish group A.P. Moller-Maersk is rethinking its medium-term investments. CEO Nils Andersen announced to ‚Financial Times’ a reduction of expansion steps in global container shipping business for the next five years. Instead the focus will be put on increasing the commitment to such business sectors as port logistics/container terminals and oil production, the manager emphasised.

Restructuring its key areas of investments A.P. Moller-Maersk is obviously responding to the volatile environment and the uncertain market development of liner shipping business. According to the estimation of Nils Andersen Maersk Line has sufficient capacity available for continued growth in line with expectations. Maersk Line represents currently a global market share of 16 per cent.
