Asfinag: EUR 1.135 billion revenue from HGV toll

Asfinag continues investing in measures to increase traffic safety and strengthen the business location

In 2013 Asfinag registered slightly increasing revenues. Results from the HGV toll (vehicles of more than 3.5 tonnes of total weight) as well as toll stickers and special tolls (vehicles of less than 3.5 tonnes total weight) rose year-on-year by 4 per cent. Revenues from HGV toll amounted to EUR 1.135 billion (up 2.9 per cent), and to EUR 553 million from car toll (up 6.5 per cent: EUR 406 million from toll stickers, EUR 147 million from special tolls). This resulted in an annual surplus of EUR 471 million, as the company announced in a press conference.

The past financial year of Asfinag was marked by investments totaling EUR 704 million into the Austrian motorway and expressway network to strengthen the business location. „We build what we can afford. That is why we attach great importance to ensuring that the projects are efficient, effective and cost-slim,“ said Alois Schedl, director of the management board.

The manager referred to increasing traffic safety as the main objective. Thus every second euro was invested into expansion of tunnels, creating controlling and resting places, new road surfaces with more grip and modern road equipment. Asfinag will invest EUR 6.5 billion to 2019.
