For the transport management specialist Augustin Network based in Straßwalchen near Salzburg intermodal service concepts have a growing importance. “Before 2015 the share of the related product lines shall amount 30 to 35 per cent of total turnover. At the moment we have a value of about 10 per cent“, says Managing Director Jürgen Huth in the interview with the Austrian transport magazine Österreichische Verkehrszeitung. The target of the management is to establish a scheduled block train service. The enterprise is currently using fixed contingents of private trains.

The enlargement of the transport means fleet as well as the establishment of new transport corridors form the basis for the expansion of intermodal transport. The company’s own fleet of pallet wide 45’ containers is to be increased by around 200 units before the end of this year. In addition to the “South railway“ from Germany and Austria to Romania, Greece and Turkey a „North railway“ from Germany via Poland to destinations in Byelorussia, Russia and the Ukraine is being established.
