Austria ranks fourth in the World Bank Logistics Performance Index

Behind Germany, Sweden and Belgium, the logistics location Austria ranks fourth in the World Bank Logistics Performance Index 2018. The current report compares 160 countries in their logistics performance.

“Rank 4 in the world ranking of logistics locations is an outstanding placement. This means that Austrian logistics is clearly one of the best in the world. This is also attributable to the performance and quality of the domestic logistics companies and sends a strong signal to the Austrian logistics and business location”, comments Mag. Wolfram Senger-Weiss, President of the Austrian Central Association of Forwarding & Logistics. In 2014, Austria had dropped to 22nd place.

The World Bank Index is also an important indicator for the location of international companies and thus particularly relevant for the domestic business location. “Now it is important to use this result positively and to market our excellent logistics service quality both nationally and internationally,” concludes Senger-Weiss.

The Logistics Performance Index is based on six key criteria, including the quality of trade-related infrastructure, the price of international shipments, logistics competence and quality, and the frequency with which shipments reach their destination on time. However, the trade logistics gap persists between developed and developing countries in 2018. The global leaders in trade logistics top are very close to each other.
