Austrian Post gains market shares in B2B parcel logistics

Parcel segment of Österreichische Post AG saw 4.3% volume increase in 2014; B2B activities performed particularly well
Österreichische Post AG is increasing its market share in the parcel segment, says the new Branchenradar, published by Kreutzer Fischer & Partner Consulting GmbH. This analysis confirms a 4.3 per cent volume increase with the Post in 2014. This growth was equally generated by B2B (Business to Business) and B2C (Business to Customer).

“The result of the study shows: Our strategy towards customer-orientation works. We are working on new offers for business and private customers. Our target is to become the market leader thanks to our innovations in terms of customer satisfaction“, emphasises DI Dr. Georg Pölzl, CEO of the Austrian Post.

In particular, recent service offerings, such as the new Post app with electronic yellow note or expansion of the 24/7-offering are well received by the post clients. The number of reception boxes of currently just under 9,000 will be increased to 11,000 by the end of the year. With a volume increase of 5.6 per cent in the B2B segment in 2014, the post was able to increase its market share by 1.7 percentage points.

„This although the B2B market has generally decreased by one per cent. The increase in market share shows that we are on the right track,” says DI Peter Umundum, Manager Parcel & Logistics Division of the Austrian Post.

In the segment of parcel shipments to private customers, the post was able to increase its market share by 0.6 percentage points to 77.2 per cent and thus further extend its market leadership in this area. In the international parcel market, an increase of 1.1 percentage points to 9.9 per cent was registered.
