Austrian transport ministry informs about intermodal transport

Austrian Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology organises “days of action“ on intermodal transport; starting in Linz and Salzburg

Through dedivated „days of action“ (Aktionstag) the Austrian Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT) aims to raise consciousness about intermodal transport in the coming weeks. The event provides companies, shippers and forwarders with information on subsidies, among other things. The first station will be in Linz on October 21, and the next day in Salzburg. More stations are planned in Carinthia (30.10.2013), Styria (31.10.2013), Vienna (14.11.2013), Vorarlberg (4.12.2013) and in Tyrol on 5.12.2013.

„Intermodal transport combines the advantages of the environmentally friendly transport modes rail and ship, with the precise collection and delivery by truck on the shortest possible way on the road. Therefore, intermodal transport is also an excellent way for many companies to make their logistics more efficient and ecological while safeguarding their competitiveness,“ the BMVIT aims to make the environmentally friendly and efficient form of transport attractive to companies. From a transport organisational point of view, intermodal transport should contribute to shift significantly more cargo volume to environmentally friendly freight transport modes in the future.
