Automation and Innovation Conference launches at IntraLogisteX 2020

This year sees the launch of the Automation and Innovation Conference at IntralogisteX – looking at how businesses are modernising and adapting to change, be it from a technology, policy or process point of view.

The two-day conference programme runs across both days of IntralogisteX, which takes place at the Rich Arena, Coventry, on 1st and 2nd October.

Day One (Thursday 1 October) starts at 10.45am when Sally Austin, group human resources director at Wincanton will discuss ways to attract better attract talent.

She is followed at 11.15am by Tony Mannix, chief executive officer at Clipper Logistics, who will talk about how to efficiently manage reverse logistics to protect a company’s brand and enhance customer loyalty. He will also discuss the importance of integration and speed to maximise opportunities.

Then, at 11.45am, Nick Fox, head of logistics at Link Theory, will look at managing customer’s last mile delivery, including the importance of getting the products to your customer on time and what customers need from their last mile delivery.

At 1.15pm, Carl Lomas MBE, Institute of Couriers chair and fellow in logistics at the University of Derby, will explain the final mile e-commerce challenge, as well as looking at sustainability and the next generation workforce.

Day Two (Friday 2 October) starts at 10.45am when Andrew Hoyle, head of automation at Wincanton,  discusses how to improve warehouse efficiency, and what challenges might one face when automating logistics.

He is followed at 11.15am Carl Lomas MBE, Institute of Couriers chair and fellow in logistics at the University of Derby, will explain the final mile e-commerce challenge, as well as looking at sustainability and the next generation workforce.

At 11.45am Simon Cooper, sales manager at Swisslog, will explain how advances in sensing, vision, gripping, and navigation technology have opened up new applications for robotics in the warehouse. He will also explain why flexible robotics is necessary for future-ready warehouses.

While at 12.15pm Simon Jones, senior solutions executive at 6 River Systems, will discuss how collaborative robots can empower employees and drive efficiency, as well as looking at how to enhance productivity by balancing labour and technology.

Finally, at 12.45pm James Smith, managing director at AutoStore UK, will share an insight into a new customer experience that can be rapidly adopted by the retail and grocery sector. He will also look at how to create a more secure, efficient and profitable end-to-end solution for the future.
