Boots puts collaboration at core of new DHL deal

Boots has extended its contract with DHL Supply Chain to handle national cross dock, chill and transport operations for a further five years.

The retailer is looking for improved efficiency from collaborative initiatives with other retailers, such as shared retail high street deliveries and backhauling.

DHL has worked for Boots for 15 years. Under the contract it manages the national primary operation at Boots’ main site in Beeston, Nottinghamshire, working with two chill distribution centres and fourteen cross dock operations. It serves a network of 2,500 stores.

Simon Macdonald, Boots’ distribution contract manager, said: “DHL has adopted a collaborative and value added approach with our business, and we are pleased to partner with them for the next stage of our operation as we work together to grow our business. Our focus is on ensuring that our customers can get the products they need to help them feel good, and an integrated and streamlined supply chain is key to making this a reality.”

Jon Wood, VP home and leisure at DHL Supply Chain, said: “Under the new agreement we’re looking forward to using our expertise to create efficiencies within the supply chain.”
