Budapest Airport: Cargolux awarded “Best Performing Cargo Airline”

Cargolux was awarded the “Best Performing Cargo Airline” prize in 2017 during a ceremony on February 8th 2018 at Budapest Airport. With this award, Budapest Airport recognizes Cargolux’s contribution to its record-breaking year.

“We are honored and proud to receive this award,” says Tony McNichol, Regional Director Central Europe. “It is a great recognition of our efforts to offer the Hungarian air freight community the best possible service.”

In 2017, Cargolux transported close to 11,000 tons of cargo from and to Budapest Airport, an increase of +14.5 percent compared to 2016. Europe’s leading all-cargo carrier is the largest provider in the belly and freighter cargo market at Budapest Airport.

Budapest Airport has become an important cargo hub in in Central Eastern Europe. Almost 130.000 tons of air cargo was handled at BUD in 2017, an increase by 13.4 percent compared to the previous year. A new Cargo City at BUD is going to be operational in summer 2019.

“Cargo and logistics are principally based on the relationship and the co-operation between the partners. We are proud to have an excellent long time co-operation with our great partner, Cargolux, and we are happy to celebrate together the 15th year’s anniversary of their BUD operation,” René Droese said, Director Property and Cargo at Budapest Airport.
