Capacity to be more than doubled at Wolfurt container terminal
Expansion of cargo station in Wolfurt (Vorarlberg/Austria) to be implemented in three stages; the first is to start by the end of 2014
On Monday evening the people of Lauterach was informed about the expansion plans of the Wolfurt cargo station. The expansion will more than double the capacity of the Wolfurt terminal. Works are set to start by the end of 2014.
The core of the reconstruction will be the up to 750 metres long track systems with two container cranes, allowing trains to enter and exit without additional shunting. Beside the tracks there is a depot area for about 1,700 containers. An empty container depot with maximum capacity for 3,500 container units will be added as well.
The project will be implemented in three construction stages, during ongoing operations. The entire facility shall be completed by mid-2018.
