Carpet company expands DC network

Cormar Carpets has taken Prologis’ 122,730 sq ft warehouse at Prologis Hemel Hempstead.

sofaCormar, one of the UK’s leading carpet manufacturers, has taken has taken the unit to expand its regional hub network across the south of England. The new operation has the potential to bring 60-70 new jobs to the town.

“Our business is expanding in south and south east England and we are developing our supply chain to meet demand,” said David Judge, managing director at Cormar Carpets. “Prologis Hemel Hempstead is a perfect location for us, so we are delighted to have secured this building and we look forward to being part of the local business community.”

The distribution centre, which is being refurbished to a high specification, will be ready for occupation by April. Close to Junction 8 of the M1 motorway, the building is also four miles from Junction 21 of the M25 motorway.

Andrew Griffiths, managing director, Prologis UK said: “There is a high level of demand for distribution property along the south M1 corridor and very little availability.”
