Ceva Logistics sets off towards new era with Wärtsilä

Ceva Logistics organises operation of the Central Distribution Centre which was inaugurated on 7 November ex Wärtsilä in Kampen (Netherlands):

Wärtsilä, a global leader in complete lifecycle power solutions for the marine and energy markets, inaugurated its new spare parts distribution centre in Kampen, the Netherlands, on Monday 7 November 2011. In the new facility, the specialist for supply chain management, Ceva Logistics, is in charge of the operative aspect of warehousing up to despatch handling.

The Central Distribution Centre is the core of Wärtsilä Global Logistics Services, and integrates eight previously localized spare parts warehouses into one global supply chain operation. It covers the entire material flow from order confirmation until the point of delivery at the customer’s doorstep. Wärtsilä’s President & CEO Björn Rosengren expects an optimisation of the entire supply chain.

"The new centre will deliver spare parts to customers and Wärtsilä’s 160 service locations around the globe. Consolidation of logistics and the warehousing operations will result in a faster and more efficient logistics flow 24/7", says Christoph Vitzthum, Group Vice President, Wärtsilä Services.

Wärtsilä’s total investment in the new distribution centre which offers a total space of 37.000 sq. m. and more than 60.000 pallet storage positions, has been approximately 70 million Euros. When in full operation at the end of this year, approximately 140 people will be working there.
