CMA CGM extends Black Pearl Service to South American west coast

CMA CGM will extend its Black Pearl service to west coast of South America (Ecuador, Peru, Panama and Chile), effective December 12th.

This upgrade comes in response to growing market demand for exports between the US and the west coast if South America (up 23.5% in 2010) and between the US and the Caribbean (up13.8% in 2010). 

The upgraded weekly service will provide CMA CGM customers with:

  • A unique direct service from Ecuador, Chile and Peru to Philadelphia and Halifax
  • Extended coverage of the Caribbean region, Mexican Gulf and East Coast South America with transhipments in Kingston (Jamaica)
  • Connections to and from the Far East (Hong Kong, Shanghai, Chiwan, Busan) for cargo from the west coast of South America via transhipments in Balboa (Panama) on the PEX3 service
  • Connections to and from northern Europe (Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp, Le Havre) through the Kingston hub on the ECS service
  • Expanded reefer capacity for exports from the west coast of South America to the US market
The upgraded Black Pearl service will deploy a fleet of six 1,100 TEU vessels, calling at: New York > Halifax > Kingston > Cartagena > Punta Manzanillo > Balboa > Guayaquil > Callao > Arica > San Antonio > Callao > Guayaquil > Punta Manzanillo > Kingston > Miami > Philadelphia > New York.
