Construction starts on Eastern M25 big shed

Goodman has broken ground on a 338,267 sq ft speculative big shed at its Purfleet Commercial Park in Essex.

The building will consist of 308,710 ft2 of warehouse space, 16,000 ft2 of two storey offices and have 18m clear internal height, a 55m yard depth, 32 dock and four level access doors as well as 59 HGV and 263 car parking spaces. It will also have a chill store ready building envelope.

Beyond being able to service customers’ rising power needs with 4MVA of power secured, Purfleet 338 will be a highly sustainable development, delivered to a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ specification. Features include roof-mounted solar photovoltaics (PV), rainwater harvesting, infrastructure for electric vehicle fleets and smart metering, helping customers to monitor and achieve energy and cost savings.

Completion is due in April next year.

Goodman’s commencement of Purfleet 338 forms part of its London and South East focus, with a development pipeline of circa 3.5 million ft2 in the region. This includes a combined 477,370 ft2 at Dartford’s Crossways Commercial Park, available for occupation this summer.

George Glennie, Development Director at Goodman, said:

“With work now underway, Purfleet 338 represents Goodman’s commitment to delivering essential infrastructure for a growing industrial and logistics market, and meeting rising demand for space in strategic locations such as the South East.”
