Cosco plans to strengthen its presence in Koper
Port of Koper: Chinese shipping line Cosco checks options for container traffic and conventional shipping
A high delegation of the Chinese shipping line Cosco recently staid in the Port of Koper, to check the options of a stronger integration of the Slovenian seaport into the global network of the shipping group. In the course of their visit, the guests from China confirmed their interest in enhancing their cooperation with the port in the northern Adriatic Sea, which has also the leading position in terms of sea cargo transit with Austria.
Container Line (Coscon) is currently operating a weekly container feeder service from Piraeus, Greece, to Koper and other northern Adriatic ports. This offer might be replaced by another solution on the medium or short term. Beside containerised cargo, interest was showed for cooperating in the conventional cargo segment since Coscol has plans to include Koper in its network of conventional services with links to the Middle and Far East.
