Cotswold Fayre picks Geodis

Wholesaler Cotswold Fayre has chosen Geodis to manage warehousing and distribution to retailers across the UK, in a move which chief executive Paul Hargreaves says will make its ambient distribution carbon neutral.

Geodis has been delivering Cotswold Fayre’s shipments to 1,750 retailers since March, and from August will provide a complete supplier to retailer logistics service, including collecting products from listed suppliers, warehousing and stock management and picking orders for direct delivery to retailers.

The process will avoid the additional environmental impact of trucking 45 per cent of the goods through regional distribution hubs.

Cotswold Fayre became a B Corporation in 2015. This is a certification which recognise businesses which are using the power of business to solve social and environmental problems. “As a B Corp it is very important to the team at Cotswold Fayre that we work with aligned partners,” said chief executive Paul Hargreaves.

Increased efficiencies mean that Cotswold Fayre’s carbon emissions are expected to fall by 46 per cent. The remaining carbon output incurred will be offset.

Commercial director Dave Truscott said: “I am delighted, that following an extensive review of our ambient warehousing and logistical arrangements, we have found a partner that aligns so well with our values and culture. Geodis operates a modern and efficient fleet, which will nearly half the CO2 emissions we generate and as a result, we will be able to offset all our CO2 emissions produced from our ambient distribution from August 2019. Cotswold Fayre will also benefit in the future from Geodis’ scale and worldwide reach, to continue to drive efficiencies and from their ability to make investment in new technologies, as they become viable”
