CTS (Salzburg) prepares for further growth

CTS Container Terminal Salzburg – Expansion of slot capacity for containers and the truck fleet

Expanding their slot system, CTS Container Terminal Salzburg responds to the increasing demand for storage spaces. From mid-March slots for more than 4,500 combined transport units will be available at the CTS. The current average utilisation is about 3,500 units. The acquisition of forklifts ain the segment of empty containers complements the expansion of the terminal.

The truck fleet for container trucking and conventional transport will be enlarged by four Volvo EEV trucks this year. “To facilitate communication with our customers, we set up a online platform for container bookings in the segment of trucking“, managing director Otto Hawlicek says in the talk with the Austrian transport magazine Österreichische Verkehrszeitung.

The CTS Container Terminal Salzburg registered a clear uptrend in throughput in the year 2010. With 241,160 TEU and more than 130,000 handled wagons last year’s figure was exceeded by 10 per cent. “The maritime connections of the terminal to Hamburg, Bremerhaven and the southern ports Trieste and Koper are going excellent and the trains have a good capacity utilisation. The links to terminals in the Czech Republic, with connections to Rotterdam and Eastern Europe, have also developed well“, Otto Hawlicek comments on the development.

Issue N° 8/2011 of ÖVZ features a detailed report on the CTS Container Terminal Salzburg.
