Dachser manages warehousing project for Siemens in Czech Republic

Dachser provides inhouse contract logistics solution in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm, Czech Repuclic, thereby expanding its cooperation with the Siemens group

Thaks to careful preparation the real time-launch went smoothly at the production site: Within 48 hours Dachser took over the operation of a 2.400 m² finished goods warehouse in Frenštát south of Ostrava, where Siemens produces asynchronous low-voltage electric motors, pumps, compressors and air conditioning equipment. In addition to warehousing and distribution – the plant dispatches roughly 200 lorries a month – the portfolio includes comprehensive value added services. Storage capacity was increased by 250 electric motors.

„Based on tightly involved IT processes we are able to optimise and integrate information and logistics processes – and hence add value along the entire supply chain“, says Alexander Tonn, Head of Contract Logistics Dachser. In this case the customer-individual inhouse-logistics is completed by the standardised processes of the European general cargo network for distribution of the electric motors.

In the Frenštát plant, specifically the storage of packaging materials and completed products, special packaging and services with a high added value are provided. The entire layout of the warehouse was reviewed, the optimal placement of the high-load shelves was proposed, etc. Experts from DACHSER’s Břeclav branch participated in the project, making use of their long years of experience providing complete logistics services for the Otis elevator company.
