DB Schenker Logistics creates central location in Budapest

Hungarian Schenker Kft merges all services in a modern logistics facility in Budapest-Szigetszentmiklós until the end of the year.

Until the end of 2014 all DB Schenker Logistics offices and facilities in the Budapest area will be merged in a new location. In future, road transport, air- and seafreight as well as contract logistics and trade fair logistics will be housed under one roof in the Hungarian capital. The relocation finalises the integration process which was started in Hungary in 2010. All logistics divisions will be integrated into Schenker Kft, Budapest, step by step. Up to now these activities were partly taken care of by independent joint ventures with the Masped Group.

The new Schenker Kft. headquarters is located in Prologis Park in Budapest-Szigetszentmiklós, where the company leases a logistics terminal offering a space of about 30.000 m².  The handling- and the logistics warehouse meet the highest safety requirements according to TAPA and for hygiene (HACCP).  Moreover the facility offers their own ADR warehouse for hazardous goods. After completion of the relocation at the beginning of 2015 the new terminal will provide jobs for 400 employees.

“Merging our divisions – not only with regard to corporation law – but also in terms of location, makes it easier for us to offer all services from a single source“, says Árpád Vásárhelyi, general manager of Schenker Kft. who is responsible for road transport and rail forwarding. With this integration we want to lay the foundation for future growth on the Hungarian market. “It is our aim to become the leading logistics service provider in Hungary”, adds Sándor Barényi, who is in charge of the areas air- and seafreight as well as contract logistics as general manager of Schenker Kft.
