Deutsche Post enhances its e-commerce portfolio

New international letter of goods for faster and less expensive goods transfer abroad; goods shipment for small business customers increased to 1,000 grammes

At the NeoCom, Europe’s largest trade fair for mail order, the German Post presented three solutions that expand the e-commerce portfolio of letters, both nationally and internationally. Launching the international letter of goods, the company has introduced a new product for the international shipping of small-sized goods to 500 grams. This brings the advantage that with a maximum height of 2 cm it fits in most mailboxes in the world and will thus arrive more quickly at the receiver than other formats. Short product specifications, delivery letters and payment forms can be attached to the goods. Who wants to have the shipment process always in view, can also book the extra service of the international registered letter.

Thus, the German Post responds particularly to the needs of business customers and small online retailers and complements the diverse e-commerce portfolio of German Post DHL. The International letter of goods will cost EUR 3.20 and may be stamped exclusively online via the Internet stamp.

What is also new in the shipping portfolio for business customers is the Maxi letter of goods. By increasing the allowable weight from 500 to 1,000 grams also heavier items can now be shipped. From 1 November 2015 small business and commercial customers can purchase the Maxi letter of goods in packs of 12 or 60 on the online post office shop.
