DHL awarded Lufthansa contract

DHL Global Forwarding will handle the transatlantic transport of spare parts and tools for the Lufthansa subsidiary Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services (LTLS). DHL Global will be expected to fulfill 25,000 shipments per year with a total weight of a 550 tonnes. Shipments will be sent out from Germany to the US as well as from Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico to Germany.

DHL will also support LTLS with its freight control tower service, as well as its air freight transport services. The control tower, supported by state-of-the-art IT technology, monitors all transport flows, optimizes processes based on detailed shipment flow analysis, reduces costs and is closely coordinated by LTLS’s own management system.

In addition to the delivery of spare parts to LTLS warehouses, DHL will also organize time-critical shipments and handle transport of aircraft on ground items and hazardous materials.

“With DHL Global Forwarding we have found a partner that has the necessary know-how and, with its global presence, the ability to tailor its solutions to meet our need” says Managing Director of LTLS Andreas Meisel.
