DHL expands in Ukraine and Australia
DHL has opened a new logistics gateway for Ukraine and Eastern Europe, and plans to invest A$80 million in three new distribution centres in Sydney’s western suburbs. DHL Freight has launched operations in its new 20,000 m² logistics centre near Kiev in the village of Kalinovka. The new facility will serve as a main gateway for DHL Freight’s network in Eastern Europe, especially the Ukraine, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia. The new facility has seventeen docking positions for trucks. The complete handling and storage area is under video surveillance, with electronic access control and intrusion systems providing additional security. The Ukrainian market is part of DHL Freight’s road freight network that connects Western Europe with Eastern Europe and the Middle East – stretching from Austria to Russia and Poland up to Dubai and the UAE. DHL Freight’s services includes the complete range of LTL, PTL and FTL shipping options, professional customs clearance, dedicated industry sector solutions and specialist services covering all of Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. In other news, DHL Supply Chain Australia has committed to invest A$80 million in the development of three new distribution centres in Sydney’s western suburbs. The announcement follows new business wins, contract renewals and significant growth in the transport business for DHL Supply Chain Australia. The new distribution centres will provide more than 55,000 m² of new facilities, and will form part of a new DHL Sydney Campus, a DHL-dedicated logistics area comprising the three new distribution centres and a Transport Hub, among others. Construction planning and earthworks are underway, and all three new distribution centres will be operational by mid-2011. DHL Supply Chain’s Transport Hub will occupy approximately 10,000 m² of the DHL Sydney Campus, and will manage the consolidation of outbound freight from Sydney and inbound shipments for onward distribution within Sydney. With the capacity to develop an additional 120,000 m² of space, the DHL Sydney Campus will ultimately become the hub for company’s operations in Australia. Quelle: eyefortransport |
