DPD Austria: Innovations for Greater Linz

Opening their City Hub in Linz, DPD Austria – Austria’s leading private parcel company – stress once again on the importance of innovative delivery concepts and e-mobility in urban areas. The new location also serves as one of the 170 DPD pick-up parcel shops in Upper Austria, where parcels that can not be delivered to the consignee are stored and can be picked up by the receivers during attractive opening times. The parcel shop is also available for sending and returning of parcels.

“The DPD City Hubs – after Vienna and Salzburg now also in Linz – are our innovative and sustainable approach for parcel delivery on the last mile. From here the fine distribution is carried out with cargo bicycles and / or e-sprinter vehicles”, says Rainer Schwarz, Managing Director of DPD Austria.

Environmentally friendly, with low noise and CO2 emissions – this is how the parcels in Linz have recently been delivered by DPD. Five parcel deliverers are driving the e-sprinter vehicles in Linz, delivering up to 80 parcels per day. In addition to being environmentally friendly, these deliverers have a special service to offer: two of the electric vehicles are in service until 8 pm. “Our goal is to cover the entire city of Linz and the adjoining cities of Traun, Ansfelden, Leonding and Pasching with the evening delivery by spring 2018,” explains Rainer Schwarz.
